Since 1993, our family owned business has been producing high-quality illustrated prints, books, and wall decor. We love what we do as visual communicators—and it shows when we illustrate, hand-letter, or design in our favorite 20th-Century travel poster styles. We custom-print each of our posters in-house using the highest-quality inks and papers. Our most popular collection of designs is our National Parks poster collection, the perfect choice for any American adventure. There's something about that romantic, hand-illustrated style that strikes a chord in us, pushing us to explore and practice our craft as graphic artists.

It is our privilege to donate 10% of our annual profits to a number of non-profit organizations, including the National Parks Foundation. Proceeds from your purchases improve the lives of battered women, the homeless, nature-lovers, and students who want to pursue a career in the visual arts. Overlooking the Cumberland River & the Tennessee Titans stadium, the design studio is located in downtown Nashville on historic 2nd avenue. The firm enjoys a wide variety of project types, which include hospitality, educational, institutional, retail, corporate, residential, and restaurants.

This video was produced by Alex Hoffman, a film student who is a fan of our Spirit of Nashville art. During our adventures in the parks, we’ve run across scary, bizarre, and fantastic legends of mythical creatures rumored to inhabit many of the parks. This book is ideal for anyone who is a fan of the National Parks, mythical creatures, and creepy, unexplained phenomena.

We strive to create travel wall decor that looks like it was produced in the early part of the 20th century.

Joel launched Anderson Design Group's critically-acclaimed National Park Poster Series in 2016. A best-selling coffee table book followed the classic poster art, creating a demand for an entire line of coloring books, Adventure Guide Books, stickers, and other National Parks gifts and keepsakes. As a fan of Indian food, Star Wars, The Simpsons, all things Southern, Tom Petty, French cuisine, classical music, and peanut butter, you could say that Joel has a diverse palette. Our client list includes companies such as Universal Studios, Coors, Chrysler, Capitol One, MCA Records, Williams-Sonoma, Igloo Coolers, and Uinta Brewing. Born and raised in Kansas City, Derek (not related to ADG founder Joel Anderson) eventually made his way to Nashville where he studied graphic design and illustration at Watkins College of Art. During his senior year, Derek was an all-star intern with us, producing several posters that have been published in our various collections. His stellar work earned him a full-time staff position once he graduated in the spring of 2017.

Averaging 4-10 new designs per week, Team ADG has produced over 3,000 designs, including poster art for each of the National Parks. Aaron was raised in Nashville, where he dedicated his early years to drawing cartoons and making corny jokes. Finding illustration and graphic design the perfect fit for his odd skill set, he attended Watkins College of Art, Design, and Film. In his spare time Aaron enjoys eating strawberry flavored foods, building replicas of TV show & movie props, watching Japanese Anime, and teaching people Photoshop. Now he excels in illustration, hand lettering, logo and package design, and fixing our computers when they're on the fritz.

Once we have finished a design, we produce posters on gallery-grade paper in our very own print shop. Our family owned business is dedicated to creating the highest quality and most affordable travel decor possible. We hope you can see and feel the quality that goes into our American-made prints, books, and gifts. And we hope you enjoy our original creations as much as we have enjoyed producing them! Thanks for supporting the arts and small family-run American businesses like ours.

Derek enjoys creating ideas from a narrator’s point of view, deciding what perspective tells the story most effectively. In his free time Derek enjoys exercising his creative muscle through multiple outlets, such as skateboarding with friends and playing music on his guitar. Derek is a sci-fi nerd at heart and lately has taken to creating fictional movie and video game poster art. Derek’s drive and passion to make poster art is fueled by the inspiring people he works with at ADG. In 2007, the partners decided to pursue different interests, so Joel reorganized the design firm as Anderson Design Group, Inc., narrowing the studio's focus to specialize in illustration and poster design. When Joel and the art team are not doing illustration work for clients, they create new poster art.

Keanu Reeves House $8 07 Million Hollywood Hills Mansion & More

keanu reeves house

Due to his high-profile status, Keanu Reeves has taken measures to ensure the security and privacy of his home. The property is equipped with top-of-the-line security systems, including motion detectors, CCTV cameras, and alarm systems that are monitored 24/7. In addition, trained security personnel are on the premises at all times to provide an extra layer of protection.

Exploring Hollywood Hills: A Celebrity Sanctuary

Reeves told Meaww that even in Los Angeles, where people are used to celebrity sightings, fans flock to his street, which isn’t always fun. Abode was completed in 1988 and is located in a highly sought-after part of Hollywood. Rumors used to go around that the actor owned a house in celebrity-friendly Malibu, but those rumors have never been confirmed. Among the celebrities who live in this prime neighborhood is the actor Keanu Reeves in the good company of stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Calvin Klein. In June 2020, Ariana Grande bought her mansion as well in that same Hollywood neighborhood for $13.7 million. Celebrity homes are often luxurious and found in major cities such as Los Angeles.

Exploring Shibumi Shade Alternatives: Enhance Your Outdoor Spaces

The property features a large deck overlooking the lake, complete with comfortable seating and a fireplace. The deck is ideal for entertaining guests or simply relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. Overall, Keanu Reeves’ New York house is a stunning example of modern architectural design, offering a luxurious and comfortable living space in one of the world’s most vibrant cities.

Inside Keanu Reeves House in Hollywood Hills and Hawaii

Natural materials like wood and stone stand in silent testament to the actor’s love for the earth, bringing the outside in. Art pieces, strategically placed, add bursts of personality and color, reflecting the homeowner’s journey through life and cinema. The mystery surrounding Keanu Reeves and his preference for privacy and living a (relatively) modest and normal life is what makes him so good at playing these dark roles. John Wick’s character fits the actor like a glove, with his love of motorcycles, puppies, gorgeous hilltop houses, nice cars, and lots and lots of privacy. Given the actor’s bulletproof privacy, you might think he lives in an ultra-modern, ultra-secluded hut somewhere in the mountains, away from the public eye.

keanu reeves house

Located in a prime neighbourhood, Keanu Reeves’ house is a magnificent abode, boasting of luxury and elegance. The exact address of the house is not known to the public, as the actor values his privacy. However, the house is believed to be situated in the Hollywood Hills area, which is a highly coveted neighbourhood among celebrities due to its scenic views and exclusivity. The additional bedrooms are also impeccably designed, each with their own unique flair. From the chic wallpaper to the stylish furniture, every detail has been carefully considered to create an inviting and comfortable space. Whether you’re a fan of the actor or simply appreciate exceptional architecture and design, an exploration of Keanu Reeves’ private residence is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

The Matrix 4 is already in post-production, John Wick will return with a Chapter 4 (and 5!), and he also made an appearance in the much-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 video game. It's speculated that the actor Keanu Reeves also owns several homes in Malibu, Hawai, and New York. But these are mere speculations that have never been confirmed by the actor or his partner, Alexander Grant. The home has been built in a contemporary style with bold lines and a typical floor-to-ceiling fenestration. This is quite large compared to the size of the average home surrounding them.

The property is surrounded by high walls, and security cameras are installed all around the property. Furthermore, while Reeves could easily flaunt his wealth through opulent estates, he instead maintains a discretely luxurious lifestyle. His choice to pour money into charity rather than over-the-top homes reflects his character and integrity. Given the lot size, amenities, bespoke architecture and illustrious owner, experts estimate Reeves’ Hollywood Hills abode could easily fetch $20 million or more on the market today.

His career reached new heights after starring in the sci-fi classic The Matrix through 2003. After early roles like Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Reeves first gained serious acclaim playing a conflicted FBI agent in Point Break. However, tidbits surrounding his relationships, privacy concerns, and recent engagement shine a light on the ultra-private star.

Either way, the home is gorgeous and was sold to an undisclosed individual in May of 2015. The timing of the debut of The Matrix Resurrections on Netflix is curious considering that Warner Bros. surprisingly announced in early April that a fifth Matrix film was in development. The scene was dramatised in the film with a real Orthodox priest carrying out the wedding. The movie is a flawed but spectacular adaptation of the OG vampire story, starring Gary Oldman as Dracula himself, with Anthony Hopkins as his nemesis Van Helsing. The “John Wick” star’s home has been broken into several times over the years.

A few days later, while Bullock was painting her nails with a friend in her living room, she heard the actor's motorbike outside. After Reeves and Bullock did "Speed," they hung out a few times, and the actress recalled one of those instances. She remembered them talking about how she never had tasted champagne and truffles, shocking Reeves. Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or just looking for simple ways to enhance your living space, we’ve got you covered.

Overall, the tour of Keanu Reeves’ house is a stunning experience, offering a glimpse into the elegant, luxurious lifestyle of the famous actor. The outdoor space is no less impressive, with beautifully landscaped gardens and outdoor entertainment areas. The swimming pool is a stunning centerpiece that offers the perfect space for relaxation and fun. The bedrooms are elegantly designed, with comfortable bedding and matching decor.

The bathrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art fixtures and elegant finishes, providing a truly luxurious experience. The lake house also has its beachfront, with a private dock that provides direct access to the water. This feature allows Keanu Reeves to indulge in a variety of water activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, or fishing, adding to the overall appeal of the property. The Hollywood Hills have long been a magnet for celebrities and high-profile individuals, and Keanu Reeves’ house is no exception. The neighborhood’s exclusivity, privacy, and stunning views make it one of the most coveted areas in Los Angeles, attracting both established and rising stars alike. Although it’s not clear when Keanu Reeves purchased the house or the exact purchase price, it’s known that the actor has a longstanding connection to Hawaii.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a reported burglary at Reeves’ property on Thrasher Avenue around 7 p.m., officials told The Times on Friday. Rea recalled Reeves speaking to the passengers, asking them where they were going and how they were, and even giving them advice on how to reach their destinations faster. Even though Reeves likes his privacy, his presence has left a mark on many of his fans' lives.

New England & Canada Cruises 2024-2025

what cruise lines go to new england and canada

These itineraries often visit five to seven ports in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island but do not sail up the St. Lawrence River to Quebec. Canada and New England Cruises on premium and luxury lines are usually longer, often 11 to 14 nights, and feature more sea days. Onboard activities for younger cruisers are also likely to be limited, and shore excursions are generally geared to grown-ups. Like every cruise destination, the Canada and New England area offers visitors a wide range of fun and exciting experiences. The region's mix of natural beauty, historical significance and modern urban culture make it appealing to both nature lovers and city types, and its convenient location is an added plus. Many people don't realize that New England and eastern Canada is a wine-producing region, with vineyards in Massachusetts, Maine, Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Choose the cruise line and ship based on your family dynamic

Sail roundtrip from the city that never sleeps and discover world-famous landmarks like the New York Stock Exchange or Statue of Liberty. Explore iconic neighborhoods, and see the city through the eyes of the locals. If the end of a summer is unusually chilly or the start of autumn is especially windy and rainy, that can affect when the leaves change and for how long they stay on the trees. Booking a cruise in advance solely for the purpose of leaf-peeping is always a gamble.

Newport Shore Excursions: A Day In Port

Cruisers might visit Quebec City and Saguenay in Quebec; Sydney and Halifax, Nova Scotia; Corner Brook, Newfoundland; Saint John, New Brunswick; Portland, Maine; Boston; and Newport, Rhode Island. It offers a comprehensive tour of Canada's Atlantic Provinces and Quebec. Grandeur of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean's older and smaller ships, so don't go in expecting a humongous megaship with wild top-deck amenities (a good thing or not, depending on your style). You'll still find plenty of dining options (including sushi and teppanyaki hijinks at Izumi), the line's signature circular Viking Crown Lounge and – perfect for fall weather — an indoor, adults-only solarium.

American Heritage

Drop us an anchor below to share your Canada/New England cruise reviews. If you’re looking for a more relaxed atmosphere on your ship with fewer kids, take a cruise in April, May, September, or October — when school is in session — with late April and early-mid May being the safest bets. As just mentioned, the leaves can start to change towards the end of September in the New England and eastern Canada region.

Its walled Old Town is so historic that a guided walking tour offers perspective you might otherwise miss. Then you can continue to enjoy its cobblestoned charm on your own as you shop for souvenirs or duck into a cafe for a glass of wine or a cafe au lait. Book a cabin that's located midship on a middle to lower deck because the forward, aft and top decks of ships feel movement the most. You should also pack whichever seasickness medicines or bands work best for you. They offer the convenience of drive-to cruising if you live in the Northeast or mid-Atlantic.

Manhattan, New York City

From dodgeball to cupcake decorating, there are lots of activities all over our ships. With up to 19 dining options in Canada & New England, Norwegian offers more dining choices than any other cruise line. May, June and October can be quite chilly in this region, especially at night when lows dip to high 40s/low 50s F in Halifax. July and August are the warmest months, with highs in the low to mid-70s in Atlantic Canada and upper 70s in Montreal.

night Canada cruise on Royal Caribbean

what cruise lines go to new england and canada

The 11-night Fall Season Colors sailing on Oct. 1, 2024, is timed to allow passengers to enjoy regional foliage at its peak as the ship sails from Boston to Montreal. Grandeur calls on Portland, Maine; Saint John, New Brunswick; Sydney, Nova Scotia; Corner Brook, Newfoundland; and Havre-Saint-Pierre, Sept-Iles, Saguenay and Quebec City in Quebec. Passengers will sail round trip from New York and visit Newport, Rhode Island; Boston; Bar Harbor and Portland, Maine; Saint John, New Brunswick; and Halifax, Nova Scotia. On certain weeks, substitute ports might include Halifax, Nova Scotia, or Rockland, Maine. However, our pick is the seven-night Canada & New England itinerary, which combines visits to four or five ports with a cruise aboard one of Princess' newer Royal-class ships, the 3,360-passenger Enchanted Princess. Cruises during the cooler fall months are best suited for those who enjoy the outdoors.

Newport and Bar Harbor are both small enough to explore easily on your own. In Newport, you can plan your own visits to one or more of the picturesque enclave's landmark mansions or do the full 3.5-mile Cliff Walk. Bar Harbor's historic downtown is full of shops and galleries to browse, or you can independently book a scenic nature cruise to spot local wildlife. In season, free shuttles take visitors from Bar Harbor to key sites in Acadia National Park, so you aren't forced to take a tour. The first is a round-trip sailing, typically from New York or Boston, lasting seven to nine nights.

Fjords aren't limited to Norway and Chile; North America has them, too. Pick an itinerary that includes a day of cruising the Saguenay to see the Saguenay Fjord, located in the heart of the province of Quebec. Enjoy a lobster lunch on Commercial Street, visit Portland Observatory, and discover the surprising moistness of a donut made with Maine mashed potato, in the city where it’s cool to be weird. From stars of the London stage to experts in ancestry, fashion and music, Cunard’s event voyages offer a rare opportunity to dive into the iconic worlds of art, history and culture. Foodie Portland is the place to join a culinary stroll and then walk it off on the Eastern Promenade Trail.

The Freedom Trail is a 2.5-mile walk filled with all of the rich New England history that you read about in books. You'll see the meetinghouses, churches and burial grounds that were integral parts of forming the United States. Take advantage of your time in port by sampling delicious Nova Scotia cuisine. See our recommendations for Nova Scotia local food and top restaurants today. Other lines that offer Canada & New England options are Seabourn, Silversea, Regent Seven Seas, Crystal, Cunard, MSC, and Celebrity. Lines including Carnival and Disney occasionally offer one-off type voyages to Canada and New England as well.

Sunny days can be quite warm in this region despite nighttime temperatures that can feel wintry as early as August, so layers are necessary. Be sure to have a warm sweater or light jacket at all times, as well as comfortable walking shoes and perhaps hiking boots as well. Some of Royal Caribbean's New England cruises go as far north as Quebec and St. John's in Canada, giving you the full experience of the Atlantic coast, including the world’s famous New York City.

In general, a Canada/New England sailing is less likely to be bumpy than an Alaska one. However, ocean sailings are more susceptible to rough waters than seas, so you might feel more movement depending on the weather. We offer a wide range of excursions to suit every taste, whether your interest is history, the great outdoors, food, art, or all of these. From Halifax, visit quaint Peggy’s Cove and learn about the tragedy of the Titanic. Sydney, Nova Scotia is where you’ll see magnificent scenery along the spectacular Cabot Trail.

In Quebec, meanwhile, you could join a guided walking tour, visit dramatic Montmorency Falls, and spend an evening at the Sugar Shack to enjoy folklore and local cuisine. The Enhanced Driver’s License allows you to re-enter the U.S. from Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean and is valid at land and sea border crossings, but not airports. Boston is known for attractions that are certain to appeal to every kind of traveler. From Quincy Market to Boston Harbor, there are endless destinations to explore in the city.

Depending on the time of year you’ve chosen, pack for a maritime climate, which means warm, but not hot summers and mild, but not bitter winters. You’ll need comfortable walking shoes if you enjoy hiking—and there are some spectacular hikes in Canada and New England. Pack suitable footwear for wandering around towns, too; many in this part of the world have cobblestone streets.

A number of Canada and New England cruise ports do not have a pier that accommodates cruise ships — or enough dock space to accommodate multiple ships. This means that vessels need to anchor offshore and guests are transferred ashore in a small boat called a tender. While Canada and New England ports are well suited for all ages, some cruise ships are better than others for families, couples and older travelers. Choosing the right ship for your needs is always an important consideration, but it's especially vital in New England and Canada. Visiting at the start of the season, from May through mid-June, offers generally comfortable temperatures between 60 and 75 degrees, but the weather can be unpredictable at times. On the plus side, landscapes will be vibrant green, and the region's parks and gardens will be in full bloom.

Costs were ~USD 10 million (to service one slip) and involve substantial infrastructure improvements. Ship operators must spend ~USD 1 million to make a vessel shorepower-ready. A typical container ship in port uses about as much energy as a single terminal at Boston’s Logan Airport, while RMS Queen Mary 2 requires 13 megawatts (equal to the entire airport). The following NY & NJ cruise port map shows the locations of all three cruise terminals (NYC's Manhattan and Brooklyn, and Bayonne NJ's Cape Liberty). The seaport has 4x containership terminals, ranking it (by combined volume) the US East Coast's largest, USA's 3rd busiest and the world's 20th largest cargo port. In May 2013, Port NYC started a project to raise Bayonne Bridge in order to allow access to the world's largest container ships to the cargo ports of New York City and New Jersey (Elizabeth and Newark).

Honduras is Port Everglades' largest trade partner by shipping volume, including total TEUs. Over USD 2,12 billion worth of goods are annually shipped through the seaport. Port Charleston is located in South Carolina (SC), on the Atlantic coast of the USA.

The facilities are vending machines, check-in, restrooms and customs. Brooklyn New York cruise port terminal can accommodate only one ship. Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale's cruise port) is a major seaport in Broward County (Florida USA), and currently ranked the world's 3rd-largest cruise port - after PortMiami and Port Canaveral.

The previous single-day record was also in Port Everglades and reported on March 13, 2016 (55885 passengers). The plan for development of the Charleston cruise ship terminal includes construction of a new building. The Ports Authority (SPA) will sell 0,15 km2 (0,06 ml2) Union Pier property for private development right after the completion of the new terminal. This premium waterfront area will be developed as a new neighborhood and will be of no maritime use. It will feature new streets, public parks, shops, residential homes and businesses, thus increasing the access to the waterfront.

The Best Time to Cruise Alaska Month by Month

alaska cruise weather

If you’re trying to decide on the best month to cruise to Alaska and thought about taking an end of the season cruise, you’ve come to the right place. As school returns to session, cruise prices dip and provide travelers with last-minute bargains to take an Alaskan cruise. The warm weather makes it one of the best times to witness the calving of glaciers. May is one of the best times to visit Alaska for dry weather, fewer crowds, and lots of wildlife. We’ve put together this Alaska cruise weather guide to help you find the best time to cruise to Alaska. It’s not uncommon to wake up to a hot sunny day, only to find it cold and raining 10 minutes later.

Travel Is Our Tradition

In May and September, you can anticipate a few extra rainy days and slightly cooler (though still pleasant!) temperatures. Note that the best times for whale watching are mid-June to mid-August, though you can catch them before and after this, too. Keep in mind that Alaska and the Yukon make up an enormous mass of land; in fact, combined they are about half the size of the lower 48 states! As you can imagine, it can be difficult to speak in generalities about the climate for a place so vast.

A Primer on Alaska by Month: When to Go & Why

alaska cruise weather

If you want to see landlocked areas, such as Denali National Park, you can tack a cruise line-operated tour onto the beginning or end of your sailing for a seamless land and sea vacation. It's easier than fumbling with multiple train, bus, ferry and hotel reservations to cobble together the same trip on your own. If you're eager to spot bald eagles in the wild, ride a dogsled atop an ice field or pan for gold after a hearty salmon feast, an Alaska cruise is calling your name. Dive into The Points Guy's Alaska cruise guide for all the planning tips you need for your dream cruise up north.

Summer

She loves to get active while at port, whether cycling through mountains in the Caribbean or scuba diving under the sea. Instead of getting upset over a cold, rainy day in port, maintain a positive attitude. Find a cozy saloon to enjoy a warm Irish coffee, or bundle up in your rain gear and make the most of the day.

The Yukon, Ketchikan, Glacier Bay National Park — Alaskan cruises offer direct access to the last American frontier. If you’re a first-time visitor, the vast tundra and glaciers of Alaska can feel intimidating. After all, in addition to figuring out how to respond if you encounter a moose, you’re also worried about the weather and which month would be best to plan your trip. A day might start out sunny and mild, for instance, turn to rain an hour later, and be sunny again in time to enjoy an outdoor lunch. A limited number of cruises in October (predominantly on Norwegian Cruise Line) make it possible for cruisers to experience a taste of Alaska in winter without sub-zero temperatures. You will want to bundle up; the average temperature in Juneau in October is 39 degrees.

And while the primary Alaska travel season is short, conditions can vary greatly between spring, summer and fall. Combine all this with Alaska’s notoriously unpredictable weather, and it can be a challenge to determine a single best time to visit Alaska. Alaska has humpback whales, gray whales, killer whales, and a small population of belugas. Though it’s species-dependent, the best time to go whale watching in Alaska is in high summer, when the days are long and the feeding is plentiful. And it all depends on what species you intend to see—humpbacks are in the area year-round, while others like gray whales migrate to Alaska in summer.

In Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and southeast Alaska towns, expect average temperatures of 54F and lows of 43F. Not to mention you’ll have a better chance of seeing humpback whales, king salmon, bears, moose, and bald eagles. During this month, you can expect the weather begins to cool, higher rainfall, and gorgeous fall landscapes. The Alaska cruise weather in June is fairly cool, but it has the least amount of rainfall during the Alaska cruise season. You can expect Alaska cruise temperatures in May to have lows of around 40 and highs of around 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ships often sail with empty rooms allowing them to enjoy onboard venues with fewer people. Diminished wildlife sightings – The great humpback whale migration begins in early September. As humpback whales head south, your chances of seeing whales diminish, especially in the second half of the month. Fewer Crowds – As ships start repositioning to other areas, you’ll enjoy ports with fewer people. With fewer visitors, getting a taxi or rideshare will be easier, should you need one. With each passing year, some cruise lines are pushing the envelope of expanding the Alaska cruise season.

If your flight doesn’t arrive until 11PM the night before your cruise, it probably isn’t worth it to travel to the city center. Instead, consider a hotel near the airport so you can simply land and head straight to bed. For those arriving earlier in the day, though, it’s worth it to find a hotel downtown for easy access to tourist sites. Although your cruise itinerary might say you arrive at 6AM on disembarkation day, this does not mean you can get off your ship at 6AM. It takes time for your ship to dock, get cleared by local authorities, and prepare for disembarkation. If all goes to plan, you could start disembarking by 7AM, but unexpected delays could cause a later disembarkation time.

If you’ll willing to take an Alaska cruise in October, you’ll benefit from great deals, ships sailing with empty cabins, and fewer cruise passengers in port. As September progresses, the cruises get cheaper, and it’s possible to find one at rock-bottom prices by the end of the month. So, you could find a 7-day cruise from USD 300 to 500 per person, plus taxes and fees.

The best month to visit Alaska depends on what you hope to experience during your trip. Gray whales, humpback whales, orca, beluga whales — Alaska has them all. Here are some quick tips to help you increase the odds of seeing whales during your cruise.

The last thing you want to happen is have your dream excursion sell out, leaving you scrambling to find other plans. Plus, excursions tend to only get more expensive over time, so booking early helps you lock in a lower price. Fortunately, after nearly a dozen Alaska cruises, our staff are well versed in the ins and outs of cruising to Alaska. From booking your pre-cruise hotel to utilizing Seattle’s stress-free luggage service, here are our top 24 tips for an Alaska cruise this year.

Disney Renames Global Dream Disney Adventure

global dream cruise ship

With Genting’s bankruptcy in 2022, the future of the Global class was in doubt.[6] On November 16, 2022, Disney Cruise Line confirmed it acquired the unfinished Global Dream.[1][7] The second unfinished ship has been scrapped. The vessel was specifically designed for the booming Asian cruise market, the Global Class ship can accommodate about 5,000 passengers in 2,500 cabins based on a twin share basis – and up to 9,500 passengers during holiday peak season. The first section measuring 22 meters long, 26 meters wide and weighing 410 tons, about half of the full keel, marked the start of construction of the largest cruise ship ever built in Germany.

Whether in the shopping mall, the Asian spa, theme park or Cineplex, both action enthusiasts and those seeking tranquillity will more than get their money’s worth. While the look and overall design will undoubtedly be uniquely Disney, here is a look at this mega liner which was tailor-made for Dream Cruises (originally ordered by Star Cruises). The new owners plan to transform the 1989-built vessel into a missionary ship and floating bookshop. The new owners, who also bought the Crystal Cruises brand and other assets, plan to relaunch the luxury company in 2023. The ship, which has not yet been named for Disney Cruise Line, will include the iconic Mickey-Mouse-inspired colors and the classic Disney funnels, just like the other five ships in the fleet.

A German hospitality group bought the former Crystal Mozart river ship and will launch a new cruise line with the vessel. Recovery efforts in Baltimore continue to make good progress Maryland Governor Wes Moore highlighted in a briefing on Friday afternoon, April 19, reporting that more than 1,300 tons of steel have now been removed from the waterway. While the priority remains on establishing a lager temporary channel to reopen Baltimore harbor, late today they also opened a third temporary channel while the teams are also beginning to converge on the Dali for the effort to refloat and remove the... The German cruise industry magazine An Bord reported that the lower hull of the liner is to be disposed for scrap price. It will also become Disney Cruise Line's first ship to homeport outside of the United States, although the company has not yet revealed where. The ship was originally intended for the waters of China and The Walt Disney Company has expressed interest in finding a home port for one of its ships closer to its patrons in nations like Japan and China.

Baltimore Opens Third Channel as Plans Sequence Efforts to Refloat Dali

Disney has confirmed that the vessel will be based outside the U.S. market and that further itinerary details will be revealed in the future. Christoph Morgen, the lawyer overseeing the liquidation of MV Werften has scheduled a press conference for Thursday, November 17 to provide more details on the sale agreement. The new vessel will be renamed at a later date and is expected to join Disney's fleet in 2025.

A result for the process, however, is still to be announced by the auctioneers, who accepted sealed bids for the vessel until December 21.

On June 11, 2022, Christoph Morgen (GHK's MV Werften's insolvency administrator) announced that the unfinished sistership (the second GLOBAL-class unit/"Global Dream 2") will be sold for scrap. The unit had a completed lower hull with installed machinery (Including the engines) and some of the systems. The plan was for the installed systems and machinery to be removed and sold, and the half-finished hull to be separately sold at scrap prices. With redesigned max passenger capacity ~6000 (plus ~2300 crew), Disney Adventure is expected to enter service for DCL in 2025, with inaugural deployment in East Asia and homeporting in Singapore. The purchase of a half-finished ship originally slated for another cruise brand is a notably unusual move for Disney. The company likes to control the design and construction process of its resorts both on land and sea from the moment of their conception.

Disney Adventure - user reviews and comments

Disney said it would work with Germany's Meyer Werft shipyard to complete the vessel, which was being built with specific venues designed to appeal to Asian families. Questions also remain regarding implementation of the line’s rotational dining concept, what will replace the existing casino space, likely an expansion of the Disney’s renowned kids' facilities, and much more. Global Dream was originally ready to install a theme park on deck encompassing waterslides as well as a roller coaster, not unlike the one on Carnival Cruise Line’s latest ships Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, but longer. Little more is known about the ship’s design including its interiors, but we do know it will be powered by green methanol, one of the lowest-emission fuels on the market. And a press release did state that "certain" features would be reimagined under the leadership of Walt Disney Imagineering, the parent company’s department in charge of creative development.

Global Dream Cruises

global dream cruise ship

One of the more innovative design changes Disney is discussing is the use of methanol for the ship’s fuel. Disney Cruise Line confirmed that it has completed the acquisition of the incomplete cruise ship Global Dream that was being built by MV Werften for Genting Hong Kong’s Dream Cruises when the shipyard and later its parent company went bankrupt in January 2022. The cruise line division of the entertainment giant said it was able to secure the cruise ship at a favorable price and within the corporation’s capital expenditure guidance to investors. Disney is working with Meyer Werft to complete the construction at that MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany.

Among the vessel features of Global Dream that were being specifically designed for the Asian market was a massive one-and-a-half-deck casino. The line didn't say where it would deploy the ship, but it said in a press release that the vessel would bring Disney's style of cruise vacations to "new global destinations." What exactly will the new ship look like for Disney given its current state of construction? Physically, it will remain the same size, but its planned capacities will be altered.

Meyer Werft is the Papenburg-based company that built the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish and is scheduled to build two sister ships to the Disney Wish. On March 8, 2018, the vessel's construction officially started with the steel-cutting ceremony held at MV Werften's shipyard in Bremerhaven Germany. Initially, the ship (hull number 125) was allocated to the sister-brand Star Cruises.

MV WERFTEN comprises of three shipyards in Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (MV) and has some of the largest docks and covered fabrication facilities in Europe. The yards are located in a region with an excellent transportation and logistics infrastructure and have direct access to the Baltic Sea. Further investments in a laser thin-plate welding line, cabin manufacturing, state-of-the-art software and other automation are being made to make MV WERFTEN one of the most efficient cruise ship builders in the world. Now under the guidance of Meyer Werft, the vessel is still set to be an impressive 208,000 gross tons, with an approximate guest capacity of 6,000 at double occupancy and as many as 9,500 passengers when fully booked.

Disney Cruise Line announced that the next ship was to be the Disney Treasure, which is set to sail in 2024. The ship is expected to have its maiden voyage in 2025 with a passenger capacity of approximately 6,000. There are rumors this may be delayed until 2026, though, especially with the lineup of changes that need to be made.

On September 11, 2018, at the Warnemunde-Rostock Shipyard was held the vessel's keel-laying ceremony, with which officially started its construction. During the special event was lifted and placed the first keel block (bottom hull section) with length 22 m (72 ft), width 26 m (85 ft) and weight 410 tons. A total of 30 large-sized sections were pre-fabricated and assembled in Stralsund and subsequently shipped to Wismar for final assembly. At Wismar Shipyard's outfitting quay was installed (specially purchased for GHK's Global-class project) a 125 m (410 ft) high gantry crane. GHK was a global entertainment, hospitality, and leisure company based in Hong Kong. It ordered two cruise vessels to be custom-built to serve the Asian market, specifically China.

Disney is also expected to convert some of the staterooms into other spaces as the announced guest capacity for the ship was 6,000 but the Global Dream was originally planned to host 9,000 guests. The fully financed plan detailed how MV Werften would pay all its creditors in the liquidation process, and the plan had been analysed by an independent auditor. It was decided that Global Dream would be the last vessel built by the shipbuilder and the company had stopped taking in any new customers, Mr Morgen said.

The roller coaster allows 1+ G (gravitational acceleration almost everywhere on track) and max speed 60 kph (37 mph). Each Spike cart accommodates max two riders (inline seats) and features an integrated throttle control of the speed. Disney also said the exterior of the ship would be adorned in the iconic Mickey Mouse-inspired colors of the fleet, complete with the line's signature red funnels. The Florida-based cruising arm of tourism giant Disney announced late Wednesday that it was buying a massive, half-finished ship that was until recently under construction for Asia-based Dream Cruises. More details about the ship’s maiden voyage, itineraries and onboard experiences will be revealed in the future, according to Disney.

Captain Andys Na Pali tours, sunset cocktail cruises Kauai

captain andy's sunset cruise

The Na Pali Dinner Sunset Sail is their premier “dinner with a view” experience. Passengers will enjoy a panoramic view of the entire coastline from Haena to Milolii, with the “forbidden” island of Ni’ihau in the distance. Each day is unique, as the light reacts with clouds and landscapes. The original Kauai sunset cruise along Na Pali Coast on a custom 55' Gold Coast catamaran. On most days the Hawaiian tradewinds are blowing from the East, which makes for a perfect downwind sail once we reach our turnaround point.

POIPU SUNSET SAIL CAPTAIN ANDY’S

The fine catered meals have been carefully planned to please the appetites of seafaring passengers. Kudos to our captain Jacob, who besides getting us through the waves also provided commentary throughout the voyage and to the crew of Brayden, Gaby, Kevin and Garrett. We moved inside to the bar area, which was also the staging area for the meal. For beverages, they served beer, wine and a pre-prepared rum cocktail (which was a little too sweet for my taste.). Jacob, our captain, made sure to position us so that we were in excellent places for pictures. The crew was more than happy to take as many of them as you wish.

What time of day is best for Napali Coast boat tour?

Step on board our luxurious sailing catamaran and you'll immediately feel the warm hospitality and professionalism of our experienced crew. Settle into the spacious deck, find a comfortable spot, and get ready to embark on a truly magical Kauai dinner cruise. Our expert crew is dedicated to providing you with an extraordinary and personalized experience. Whether you're seeking a thrilling adventure, a serene escape, or a combination of both, our Na Pali Coast boat tours are tailored to meet your desires. From my experience, Captain Andy’s sunset cruise is one of the best Napali Coast boat tours you can book.

Na Pali Day Expedition

Witness the magic of a Kauai sunset as it paints the sky with vibrant hues of orange, pink, and gold. As the sun dips below the horizon, creating a mesmerizing canvas, you'll find yourself in awe of nature's stunning display. This captivating moment will undoubtedly be a highlight of your cruise, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Star Na Pali Dinner Sunset Sail

Breakfast, lunch, and beverages are included in this action-packed adventure for the whole family. They say it’s the journey and not the destination, but Napali might be the exception to the rule—Kauai’s northwest coast is truly something to behold. We always find ourselves saying, “It never gets old,” because the Napali Coast has a way of humbling us with her magnificence, every single day. It’s the rainbows and the dolphins and the way the Cathedrals break through low-lying clouds. It’s the waterfalls, and the birds flying through Honopu Arch. Even when conditions aren’t “perfect”, Napali always seems to have a way of showing the love and making the trip special.

Classic Sailing Adventures

We recognize the proper use of the Hawaiian language including the ‘okina [‘], a consonant, and the kahakō [ō] or macron (e.g., in place names of Hawai‘i such as Līhuʻe). However, these have been omitted from this website for the best online experience for our visitors. We realize the importance and use them outside of the online platform. Meanwhile their team of onboard chefs will get busy preparing the fresh meal. Unlike other charter boats, The Star is equipped with a full galley (kitchen) and bar.

Can you see Napali Coast by car?

Now you’re set up for some sailing, relaxing and yummy food. They time the sail to pull in at Port Allen near dusk, their goal is to return you to shore safe, happy and full. Capt. Andy’s sunset dinner sail isn’t cheap, at $205 for adults and $185 for children over 3. The catamaran was not packed but most of the outside seating areas were taken during the sail. IMHO, it’s worth it because you get a scenic trip up the Na Pali coast, chances at whale watching (in season), a delicious dinner and a classic Hawaii sunset over the ocean.

On The Boat

They also may sell a Napali coast sunset cruise with a BBQ dinner. As the sun begins its descent, watch in awe as the colors transform, creating a picturesque backdrop for an unforgettable evening. Na Pali Coast boat tours usually last around 4 to 7 hours, with the morning excursions typically lasting longer than the sunset cruises. On most days the Hawaiʻian tradewinds are blowing from the East, which makes for a perfect downwind sail once they reach their turnaround point. The crew’s objective on this sail is to position the boat for a calm, downwind sail during dinner service. Once you reach the turnaround, the crew will power down the boat’s twin diesels and hoist the massive mainsail and jib.

Best Things to Do in Poipu Kauai

My original boat tour was booked for early in my trip in January 2022, but it was cancelled due to the torrential rain and storm surge we were experiencing. However, we were able to go a few days later and the sea conditions were perfect, and we had incredible weather. Tours depart from the North Shore and West/Southwest Kauai in summer. Plus, in the summer or during calm conditions, you can snorkel and visit caves along the coast. Some companies offer sunset snorkel tours, but this is rare in winter. Combining a morning exploring Waimea Canyon and Koke’e State Park with a Na Pali sunset dinner cruise would be a great way to get to know the island of Kauai.

captain andy's sunset cruise

Not only did the Na Pali sunset cruise provide some of the best photo opportunities on Kauai, but it was also a fun experience. Appetizers -“buffalo” chicken wings with dip, pineapple/fruit trays, pretzels, and vegetable crudités, assorted soft drinks, sneaky tikis (tropical cocktails), along with beer and wine. Accompanied by live Hawaiian music, this Poipu sunset catamaran tour makes for a memorable experience for the whole family. Explore the beauty and adventure on one of our Kauai boat tours to the Napali Coast, Niihau and Lehua Crater. We are conveniently located in Port Allen, to serve guests of Kauai staying in Koloa, Poipu, Waimea, Kapaa, Wailua, Lihue, Kilauea, Hanalei, and Princeville. Experience Kauai snorkeling tours and true trade-wind catamaran sailing on Kauai’s Napali Coast!

You should either schedule your boat tour while on the South Shore or be willing to make the long drive over. Something important to note when booking your Na Pali Coast boat tour is that tours depart from different locations even though they are going to the same place. Continue reading to read my review on the best Napali sunset cruise. I visited Kauai in early January 2022 and one of my favourite activities was the Napali sunset cruise.

See rich hues of green, red and black as the setting sun highlights the many sharp ridge lines and valleys that make this coastline unique. After heading North up Na Pali you’ll enjoy a relaxing downwind cruise and sunset at sea. The weather was so bad in the first few days of our trip causing our initial Captain Andy’s Napali sunset dinner cruise to be cancelled. Luckily, Capt Andy’s allows you to reschedule free of charge and book on another Na Pali catamaran ride or raft excursion with them. Enjoy a romantic dinner, breathtaking sunset, and views of the spectacular rugged Napali coast.

The scenery is unlike anything you will have ever witnessed and certainly something you will remember for years to come. The jagged rocks frame the white sand beaches at the foot of its lush valley. There was plenty of space on the catamaran for those who wanted to sit at the calmer back of the boat and for those who did not mind the bumps and getting wet at the front. Depending on the type of Na Pali Coast boat tour you select, the duration of a morning for full-day Na Pali Coast boat tour can range from 4 to 7.5 hours. I chose not to do a Na Pali snorkel tour because I wanted to go on an afternoon tour that would offer optimal light to view and photograph the coast. As I mentioned, the morning tours are those that offer the snorkelling.
